Diagnostic tests

Test for determining the protective function and quality of saliva.

Do you have dry mouth?

Do you have frequent caries along the gum line?

Saliva plays a key factor in protecting your oral health.

This painless test determines:

  • Saliva quantity
  • Saliva quality
  • Saliva pH
  • the ability of saliva to neutralize acids, which together with the caries risk test allows for the development of therapeutic and preventive measures for improving ones oral health.

Plaque test

Deposits on teeth (plaque) are feeding grounds for bacteria and cause caries and gingiva and periodontal disease. Often plaque is not completely removed from the surface of teeth due to inadequate oral hygiene, poor brushing methods or simply unintentionally skipping certain surfaces when brushing.

After using revelators (at home) or special fluorescent revelators in office, teeth become colored showing places that are inadequately cleaned due to poor brushing. This test is used to improve oral hygiene and prevent caries infections and periodontal disease.

Diagnostic caries risk test

This test allows for precise diagnosis, developing caries preventive procedures and planning individual preventive programs.

This diagnostic test cannot take the place of a clinical examination, rather complements it, giving a patient insight to the cause of dental caries, information which otherwise cannot be seen by the naked eye. The test helps motivate patients to improve their oral hygiene, thus eliminating the cause of caries. Caries infections result from increased levels of caries causing bacteria in the oral cavity. This test measures the level of caries causing bacteria found in saliva. The test takes five minutes, and together with the results from the plaque test we can determine the possibility of caries infections.

This test is intended for:

  • pregnant women
  • children
  • patients with exposed dentine (receding gums)
  • patients with chronic diseases
  • anyone interested in an accurate assessment of the state of their oral health

Microbiological test for periodontal disease

Pathogenic bacteria responsible for periodontal disease can be identified and quantitatively measured.  The results determine antibiotic therapy and other therapeutic and preventive measures.

The test is intended for:

  • all those who want to know whether they are in a high-risk group
  • patients who previously underwent treatments that were not effective
  • patients who need implant placement

Genetic test for periodontal disease

A swab is taken from the buccal mucosa, and if the results are positive, aggressive preventive measures are applied in order to help preserve the patient’s oral health. Positive results indicate a patient has genetic hereditary factors that are responsible for aggressive immune responses and bone destruction, which are a result from  inflammation of the connective tissue that support teeth. Despite positive results, a well planned preventive treatment plan including frequent recall appointments and impeccable home care, periodontal disease can be controlled.

This test is intended for pregnant women, patients who need dental implants, all those who care about their oral health and those patients who do not react to conventional therapeutic measures.

Illumination test for detecting malignant lesions

This diagnostic test allows for the examination of suspicious lesions in the oral cavity.
